Visit to Jerusalem

But first, some pictures that never made it up:

Buy this olive oil from the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme soon!

Last night Maureen was not feeling well so we got a late start today. After a nice huge breakfast of delicious omlets and mangos, we went to Jerusalem for the day to walk around. We parked and went into the Old City through Bab el Amoud Gate. We walked around the marketplace, and Maureen and I shopped il we dropped and Jiries & Jiries waiting patiently. We got a late lunch/early dinner at a small store/food joint, and the only non-dairy thing they had on the menu was pizza bread with egg and hot dog slices, ha. Anyways there were a zillion vendors covering every square inch of the marketplace and there was an endless amount of junk for sale, it was amazing. We drove to the top of the Mount of Olives and looked at the view before heading back. When we got home we ate dinner, watched the World Cup game (Germany vs. Uruguay), and Jiries broke one of his front teeth. Right now Jiries jr., Maureen and I are trying- unsuccessfully- not to laugh. Tomorrow we are going to the Mediterranean Sea for the day!

Next time we go to Jerusalem we are going to visit the Dome of the Rock. Did you know that 500 Arab homes were bulldozed and replaced by the Western (Wailing) Wall plaza?

The tall structure at the top of the street is a minarette, the part of a Muslim mosque that has loudspeakers on it which belt out the call to prayer 5 times a day, except in the Old City of Jerusalem, where it is not allowed.
